Lenovo 10372LU
This was the cheapest 17" Core i-5 laptop I could find. I was skeptical about the screen resolution for 17" screen but the resolution is more than adequate, even for my primary use of the laptop which is software development with Visual Studio. The laptop runs very cool and silent. I don't believe I've heard the fan come on full force or even to the point I've noticed it. My favorite feature is actually the facial recognition windows unlock mode. Locking your screen is usually bothersome because you have to sign in each time.
